5.         PUBLIC HEARING  

 

            A.    Public Hearing on the General Waiver Request of Education Code Section 1208

                    The Board will conduct a public hearing and invites public input and comment on the recommendation that County Board of Education request the State Board of Education to waive all credential requirements of Education Code section 1208 for the Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2016.

      *    A.    Consideration and Possible Adoption of Resolution of a General Waiver Request to the State Board of Education to Waive All Credential Requirements of Education Code Section 1208

It is in the interest of the County Board of Education to draw from the widest possible pool of candidates, including candidates who may not possess an administrative credential, so that it may select the most qualified candidate possible.  There is a recommendation that Santa Clara County Office of Education seek a waiver to waive all credential requirements of Education Code section 1208 for the Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2016.

 

      *    B.    Request Approval of Findings on Rocketship 6

The County Board of Education approved the charter petition for Rocketship 6 at their November 16, 2011 meeting.  SCCOE staff reviewed the petition utilizing the criteria for countywide charter approval set forth in Education Code Section 47605.6.  Staff recommends approval of findings as presented by legal counsel for the Board.

  

      *    C.    Request Approval of Findings on Rocketship 7

The County Board of Education approved the charter petition for Rocketship 7 at their November 16, 2011 meeting.  SCCOE staff reviewed the petition utilizing the criteria for countywide charter approval set forth in Education Code Section 47605.6.  Staff recommends approval of findings as presented by legal counsel for the Board.

                    The County Board of Education will meet with Ray and Associates to finalize and approve the Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools’ profile for the promotional materials and application form.
