The District and School Support Services provides technical assistance, leadership training, and differentiated support to districts and schools throughout Santa Clara County in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs focused on improving achievement for all students. We utilize a systems approach in our work empowering all stakeholders to be actively engaged in the education process.

Administrative Credential Pathways for Tier I and Tier II
Leaders in Educational Administration Program (LEAP) is an intensive 10-month program which, if successfully completed, will grant the participant his/her “letter of eligibility” to apply for the PASC/Tier I (Preliminary Administrative Services Credential ).

Administrator Training Program (ATP – formerly AB430) for Tier II
The Administrator Training Program (ATP) is a 10-day institute that is completed during the course of a school year. Each module consists of a 3-5 day training and each has an accompanying practicum. Successful completion within 2-years of beginning the program allows a participant to apply for his/her Professional Clear Administrative Services Credential (PASC-Tier II).

Reinvention Leadership
Reinvention Leadership will focus on changing behaviors and attitudes on a personal and systems level to ensure access and opportunity for all students. A variety of venues will be utilized including round table discussions, visiting educators and authors, panel discussions and site visits.

District Assistance & Intervention Team (DAIT) Provider
The Santa Clara County DAIT works collaboratively with districts in Corrective Action to complete a comprehensive needs assessment, revise the LEAP based on a set of recommendations, and implement and monitor the key actions.

Professional Learning Communities
School sites learn how to build and sustain a Professional Learning Community (PLC) through the establishment of school-wide expectations for Professional Learning Teams (PLT). Training includes tools to develop a school-wide culture conducive to a PLC, PLT protocols, and PLC implementation monitoring and evaluation tools.

API Reports
The most recent API reports are now posted on the CDE website. These reports add information about schools’ statewide and similar schools rankings as well as provide the 2010 Base API and the 2011 Growth Target. For more information about the API or how to use the information, contact your RSDSS rep at the county office.
Webinars
Webinars are a fabulous way to bring an outside expert voice to your trainings. We’ve updated our list of webinars to include a series on English Learners and more on school and district improvement. We’ve also provided links for two sources of free archived webinars, SchoolsMovingUp and The Leadership and Learning Center.
Single Plan for Student Achievement
Tis the season for many schools and districts to begin work on the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). CDE has posted a new planning guide and template for the SPSA. The guide provides instructions for a continuous development, implementation, and monitoring of the SPSA. This guide will also be located on our Resources page.
LEA Plans
Corrective Action Districts, LEAs in year 3 or higher of Program Improvement, are required to revise their LEA plan. These plans are now posted on the CDE website. The link to these plans will be permanently located on the RSDSS Websites page or you can view the list of plans by clicking here.
Quality Counts
Education Week has published the 2011 issue of Quality Counts. In the online edition, readers can look at how California compares to other states in navigating tough economic times in all aspects of K-12 education.
APR Results and AYP Information Guide
Final APR results for unified and high school districts have been released now that graduation rates have been calculated. Lists of schools and districts in Program Improvement have also been updated. In addition new 2010 AYP Report Information Guide was released describing on page 46 how graduation rate affects Safe Harbor.
